JULIA MUNDY, PH.D.

Licensed Child Psychologist

Dr. Julia Mundy is a clinical psychologist who specializes in work with children and teens. After graduating with honors from the State University of New York in Geneseo, she earned her Master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Houston.  As part of her graduate training, she completed internships at Texas Children’s Hospital and in private practice. Dr. Mundy completed a year-long residency at the University at Buffalo Counseling Services where she worked with college students.  In addition, she has worked as a clinical psychologist for a non-profit organization which provided parent training, behavior consulting with schools, and treatment for children and teens with emotional and behavioral concerns. Dr. Mundy has also worked as a professor teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in the areas of Developmental Psychopathology and Abnormal Psychology.

Dr. Mundy is experienced in the assessment and treatment of a variety of psychological concerns, including anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, adjustment issues (such as divorce, chronic illness, etc.), grief, ADHD, disruptive/oppositional behavior, and parenting techniques. She was trained primarily in Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, which helps clients identify maladaptive thoughts and behaviors and how those patterns negatively impact their mood and relationships. Dr. Mundy works collaboratively with her clients and their parents to develop, implement, and monitor healthy coping strategies and communication styles to replace ineffective patterns of behavior. In addition, Dr. Mundy utilizes tools such as mindfulness meditation to help clients with self-acceptance and awareness. She provides assessment, individual and group therapy, and family therapy services to address client concerns.

Dr. Mundy provides a safe, supportive, and fun environment in which children, teens, and adults can reach their goals and meet their potential. Her dedication to her clients is evident in the time spent collaborating with schools and medical professionals to ensure the best care possible for her clients. Dr. Mundy strongly believes in the power of empathy, and helps others learn compassion and respect for themselves as well as for others.
